Photo exhibition debuts at the UN General Assembly and at Photokina
People have been on the move immemorial. Climate change, demographics, instability, growing inequalities, and aspirations for a better life, mean that people will continue to migrate.
The United Nation: People on the Move is a historic exhibition of images that capture moments in time – over seven decades – of the millions that have, for one reason or another, become people on the move.
This new photo exhibition is debuting this week at the annual General Assembly at the United Nation’s headquarters in New York. Leaders from around the world will be able to view a select edition of images as the high-level General debate begins today.
The European debut of the complete photo exhibition will take place at Photokina in Cologne, Germany with a Dedication Ceremony scheduled for 4:00 pm on September 26 in the passage between Halls 4 and 5. IPC Vice President John Segall will unveil the photo exhibition to leading global imaging professionals in attendance.
Additional plans are underway for the exhibition to be displayed during the second week in October in Islamabad, Pakistan with the help of IPC Board Member Muzammil I. Siddiqui.
The United Nations: People on the Move is presented by the International Photographic Council (IPC), an NGO of the UN/DPI, in cooperation with the Department of Public Information, United Nations. Thanks to Lifetouch, a leading photographic company for their generous sponsorship of this important photo exhibition.
